What's happening this week:
I'm about to click "Publish" to add e-commerce to the website!! That means that people can now purchase the deck and the workbook directly, through the website. I have about 35 decks left over from the Kickstarter campaign, available while supplies last.
Many people have asked about digital versions of the workbook and the Guidebook (the little book that comes with the deck). I am still working on this, and it is my intention to offer them for sale once I've figured out the best way to make it work.
What I'd like to do:
I'm considering hosting a Zoom Q&A about the deck, for anyone who has purchased it but isn't entirely sure how to do a tarot reading, or how to incorporate trauma ideas into tarot. I'm not sure how many people would want this -- so if you're reading this, please let me know in the comments if it's something you'd be interested in!
I'm also considering how I might be able to incorporate doing readings for people into this mix -- even though I designed this deck to be used alone, and presented it that way, I'm finding that many people really do want guidance when it comes to doing this inner work. I'm not sure what that would look like, but I'm letting it percolate.
Lastly, I am considering doing another print run of the deck -- a less fancy version this time, with a tuck box (like a regular deck of cards comes in) and an abridged guidebook. This should have a cheaper retail price -- and it will make the original Kickstarter run a "collector's item!" :)
Takeaway:
The maker's faire was fun and taught me a lot, but it wasn't the right setting for this deck -- aside from being outside (pretty loud and not much privacy), it was not really the right event. I was happy to introduce tarot to people, but I think I'd have more success if I chose an event that was already tarot- or therapeutically-based. I haven't given up on the idea though: I did love connecting with people, and I might start looking for an event that's a better fit.
I'm glad this is all moving slowly, it gives me a chance to adjust and figure out what I really want to do in terms of how I market this deck. I'm still getting purchase requests, even after the end of the KS campaign, and that gives me confidence that giving myself time to process won't be a disaster.
