New Projects!

What's been happening:

  • I've been hard at work on a new project -- it's a board game, inspired by the ancient game of Leela. This game, from India, was used to teach about Hindu beliefs and practices. It was later brought to the United Kingdom where it became "Snakes and Ladders," and then "Chutes and Ladders" in the US.

  • In my version of the game, the player creates an inquiry about a question or concern in their life, and then rolls the die and moves along the board drawing focus cards randomly from a pile. The cards correspond to the past, present or future of the concern (depending on the location on the board) and the player arranges the cards into a "spread" (similar to tarot) which can be interpreted as a response to their inquiry.

  • I'm hoping it's a bit more accessible than tarot, but still depthful enough to provide clarity and awareness. There's a lot more work to do, but testing so far has gone well and I'm excited to see how it turns out!

What else has been happening:

  • I'm also working on another project -- this one is a prompt-based workbook for intention-setting, that has reflections and practices to help support growth and track progress. I've been making and using workbooks like this myself for about ten years, and I find them really helpful... so I'm hoping to make something that other people will find helpful too.

  • I had an additional idea for an oracle deck while on a road trip to OR -- a light-hearted, whimsical deck to help "navigate the road-trip of life." More on that if it pans out!

  • And I just revamped the website to make it less tarot-specific, given these new project ideas -- if you happen to notice any glaring problems or continuity issues, please let me know!

Takeaway:

  • I'm in another season of creativity -- it's wonderful being back in "the zone!" I love when my mind is popping with ideas and I feel purposeful and full of energy. But I know that this season won't last, so I'm soaking it up gratefully while I can.

  • Along with the burst of energy is a desire to travel... I've done a road trip and a mom's getaway so far this summer, and I'm ready to keep going! Here's to inspiration and hot weather :)
